To enable effective communication to GIC members regarding our activities, the following activation levels are used:
Level 1 – Full Activation – In a full activation, all GIC resources and support functions will devote efforts towards support of gray sky operations. GIC gray sky staff will deploy to affected areas to work along public safety officials at emergency operation centers and/or incident commands to ensure effective identification and refinement of areas of interest and foster data sharing.
Level 2 – Partial Activation
In a partial activation, all GIC gray sky staff and some GIC blue sky resources and support functions will devote efforts towards support of gray sky operations. GIC gray sky staff will work remotely with public safety officials to ensure effective identification for refinement of areas of interest and foster data sharing.
Level 3 – Enhanced Monitoring
During this stage, enhanced monitored of conditions and events is occurring to determine if triggers for activation are met. Additionally, resources to be deployed are being identified should a partial or full activation be warranted. Thresholds for triggering, resources available, and timeframes for response will all be considered and a go/no go decision will be made.
Level 4 – Monitoring – Monitoring is the default level indicating that the GIC is monitoring conditions and events and blue sky resources and resources are working in support of blue sky operations.
